My Wedding Hair/Makeup

This last August I married the love of my life and being a hair/makeup artist myself I was a little bit of a pain in this area of my wedding. I did my own makeup, but I had many ideas of exactly how I wanted my hair to be I just couldn't take my head off and do it myself unfortunately... So I had one of my really good friends Shayla who is also a hairstylist do it for me. We did it a little differently for my bridals than for my wedding day so i put pictures of both. I was very picky and we practiced many times so i completely understand and don't expect anything less from my own clients. ;)

Nicholas French Advanced Updo Class

I was able to take an advanced updo class from the amazing Nicholas French. Again, for those of you not in the hair business that probably doesn't mean much... Nicholas French is a world famous british hairdresser. He does a lot of amazing runway and editorial work and came to Utah to teach a wonderful advanced hairdressing class. I learned so many new techniqes for updos and can't wait to use them on my own clients!

Hair Show - Editorial Makeup

In Cosmetology School we were required to participate in our schools annual Hair Show in order to graduate. When i was there the theme of ours was Fantasy. Our group chose to do Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. These hair shows were always a big production that took months and months of planning. They were put on at the South Towne Expo Center and by the time it was over we were all so glad but it was all worth it. My model was my younger sister and she got to be Veruca (the egg girl) I had to do her hair, makeup, and costume for this show. Here is a close up picture of her makeup that was really cool. She also had a giant nest made of hair extensions on top of her head with a golden egg on the top. Thanks for all your hard work kins!

Phillip Wilson Cutting Class

I had the chance to take an advanced hands-on cutting class by the amazing Phillip Wilson. For those of you not in the hair industry, that probably doesn't mean much to you... :) Phillip Wilson is an amazing world known hairdresser and is one of the most influential hairdressers in the past 100 years. He is an amazing stylist as well as an amazing teacher. He taught a really advanced technique for cutting by only using two combs, a pair of shears and never touching the hair with your fingers. It is a really nice technique especially for the stacked a-line's that are always a fun summer trend that will be coming in the next few months. I absolutely loved this class and can't wait to use this technique in the salon!

This is one of my most complimented, unique updo's - a basket weave. It's a really fun accent

to place into the front or side of an updo. It's even possible to do if you want to leave

the rest of your hair down.

MAC Makeup Class

I was able to take a MAC Makeup Course and become a certified MAC Makeup Artist. I absolutely loved it! This is what really made me love doing other people's makeup. I had always loved playing around with my own and on my mom and sisters but I thought if I was going to do it I better learn what I was actually doing. It was a 2 week course and by the time it was over my brain was so overloaded with information it took a while to take it all in. We had a couple of different assignments in the class. One was to do a fantasy-like photoshoot, another was a bridal makeup photoshoot. Here are a few pictures from both. I think this is was really got me started in loving the bridal/wedding beauty industry...
